Sustainability at Work – Jan 2017

There are a number of interesting developments in the field that have taken our attention here at EnerScope.

Have you heard about them?

Tech

Researchers at the University of Bristol have developed a method of using nuclear waste to generate electricity in a battery very similar to a diamond.

Science

Four new elements known as superheavy elements have been added to the periodic table and they are:

  • Nihonium and symbol Nh, for the element 113,
  • Moscovium and symbol Mc, for the element 115,
  • Tennessine and symbol Ts, for the element 117.
  • Oganesson and symbol Og, for the element 118.

Each number indicates how many protons reside in each nucleus. They apparently do not occur naturally.

Environment

Scientists imply that the Antartic Ice Sheet could be gone in 100 years.

Let’s make 2017 the year that we reverse climate change effetcs!
